Well, what can I say?

I'm still alive. That is true.

The end of law school for James is creeping closer. We have less than a year left in Houston, I hope.

It's not that things here are that bad, it's just that we miss home that much. We finally got to move into a bigger apartment. It's hard to understand how we spent a year in such a tiny place. Now we keep getting rid of things, mostly because we just like the space it frees up.

I'm now the office manager at the clinic, so that's good, but a lot of work. Also, eating healthy is awesome and I've lost 45lbs, so that's a great start.

Most of the time I just feel quiet and antisocial. Perhaps it's just a phase.

Here is an excellent tattoo I have acquired. I also have the notes to the chorus of the sweater song on my wrist.

I am very happy fall is coming. It was 90 fucking degrees today.

After dropping off my resume yesterday at the vet when we took Oona in for her liver enzymes to be drawn (excellent!), I got called in today for an interview.

The job is mine! I didn't even have to compromise on my pay requirement. Well, it's like .30 lower than what I make now, but I rounded down because I thought there would be no way they would pay me that much. The fact that it's a 7 minute walk from my house totally makes up for that loss.

I get to play with kitties all day! Literally, not only is there an office cat, but there are cats who need to be adopted running around quite frequently. So I'm going to wait until next week to figure out the specifics of how to give notice at the hospital. I'm so glad to be moving to a small practice environment.

It was so funny, apparently both of the vets that worked on Oona were really excited about me and the owner really puts a lot of stock in how people's cats act as a reflection on them. And this was Oona, so of course everyone loves her because she is super sweet. If I hadn't mentioned it, this vet only services cats. It may be the only place in Houston that does so, and I know people come from all around to go there just from hanging out in the waiting room. I'm really happy and excited.

Thank you Jeebus, for neighbors with strong wifi and no protection.

Our cable had only been back for a few days since the hurricane, and of course they're so backed up that it will be a week before they can hook ours ups, same with internet and even transferring electricity into our name.

I can't believe I haven't updated with this news, but we are moving back to Houston. James is going to go to the University of Houston's law program. I'm probably going to get a job, at least for a while, until I figure out what to do about grad school. Anyone know anything about the University of St. Thomas? We're adjusting to the idea pretty well. And hey, we'll be near our families... if that's a plus. I'm not sure yet. What is definitely a plus is that we are going to finally be living in a house! We found a great house in the Heights built in 1920.

The kitchen is totally updated with granite counter tops and pretty new appliances.

The place has a front yard AND a backyard with a deck! And a two car garage. A difficult combination to find in the area.

I bought these shoes today to wear with my wedding dress. They only slightly match. I don't care! No one is going to see them! I have never worn heels, so I can't imagine how I would make it through the night in them. I tried to be fun.

AND while I was at Nordstrom's (where the lady was very helpful and nice) I saw these:

So Sally can wait, she knows it's too late.

I am so very very sleepy. I feel pretty good besides that. Only 14.5 hours to go in this shift! I worked a 16 yesterday as well, and I'm working the day shift tomorrow. I'll have about $400 extra on my next paycheck to pay for various expenses like being a responsible adult and getting my car serviced.

For having 57 babies work hasn't been too bad.

I really need to start on my correspondence courses.

This update is not very interesting.
